Structured Cabling and Networking
Structured Cabling is the design and installation of a cabling system and network cables that will support multiple hardware uses to be suitable for today’s needs and those of the future. With a correctly installed system, current and future requirements can be met, and hardware added in the future will be supported.
Structured cabling is the first step of developing a computer network for your business. You’re not going to be able to support network equipment without the cabling and the walls properly installed. Whether you’re a new business and need to start from the ground up or an existing one moving to a new office or locations you are going to need structured cabling to build a reliable network to run your operations.
This infrastructure serves a wide range of uses beyond just computers, in many instances it provides support and cabling for telephone service or data transmission through a computer network. A proper network requires planning and implementation to meet the demands of your company and should not be device dependent.
Structured cabling falls into the following 6 sub-systems:
- Entrance Facilities – the point where the Internet Service Provider network ends and connects with the on-premises wiring at the customer location.
- Equipment Rooms – holds the equipment which serves users inside of the building.
- Telecommunications Rooms – where various telecommunications and data equipment resides, connecting the backbone and horizontal cabling subsystems.
- Backbone cabling – inter and intra-building cable connections; It carries the signals between the entrance facilities, equipment rooms and telecommunication rooms.
- Horizontal cabling – the wiring from the telecommunications rooms to the individual outlets in the wall or on the floor.
- Work-Area components – connection of end-user equipment to the outlets of the horizontal cabling system.
Structured Cable Design
Before Rider Tech installs any cable it is imperitive that we make a site visit and take inventory of the current situation and location including all of the hardware and computers that will be a part of the new network. We specialize in structured cable design and look at your building structure to determine the best path to run lines. We work with you to understand where do you want your users to have network access?
Once the preliminary information is captured we create a blueprint to make sure that we put those network lines or drops exactly in the specifications of the client. We also have to check the plan to ensure that building codes are followed. If it’s new construction, there’s a lot more details we need to address in order to be compliant for inspections. For example, there’s certain cabling that you have to use if you run over drop ceiling if it’s going to be an open ceiling. So, there’s a lot of different factors that need to be addressed. This all is completed before the first run of cable is ever installed.
Structured Cable Installation
Once the planning has been completed and approved, Rider Tech can begin the installation process according to plan without surprises or headaches. We then go in putting the lines in the walls and runs according to the plan. We also recommend IT equipment, switches, routers that will best work for them. We then set those up, install and configure them, essentially building up a network that’s going to work efficiently for the client and not break the bank installing it.
We don’t design and install structured cabling projects that are way beyond what you need but we also make sure that what we design and install have enough room to expand if your business expands, making the smart choices about what you need, but making the choices to where you can expand on that very easily in the future without completely redoing projects. We test everything we install and deliver a ready to use network for you to start using immediately.
Benefits for Small Business & Home
Reduce costs and improve effectiveness: By having an experienced team that designs and installs structured cabling and network cables you reduce costs by having the right plan and installation the first time and not after the work starts and all the additional surprises start to appear. By taking the time to understand the whole picture we can take into account the best solution that meets your business application needs.
Our planning also is designed to build a solid network with room to expand or all for further expansion without having to start from scratch just to grow your business. By planning the runs, checking their compatibility with building codes and meeting your user requests. We save you time and frustration by having an installation plan that has already been tested before installation begins, allowing you to focus on your business and not the anxiety of hoping your infrastructure will work when its complete.
